SnowDrop Gala
On March 5, 2016 at the historical and elegant Old Mill Toronto, Clergy, Parishioners, neighbouring parishes, community leaders and honoured guests gathered to celebrate the 75th anniversary of UOC St. Demetrius Parish with the SnowDrop Gala. Our very successful event featured talented artists from our parish as performers, together with invited guest artists, as people wined, dined and danced the evening away. Our silent auction brought an added bonus as people were happy to bid on very interesting items which were gathered for their enjoyment, and the photo booth provided a fun opportunity to take interesting photo’s together with friends and family. Dear Friends! On behalf of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Demetrius, we are delighted to invite you and your family to join us for the SnowDrop Gala, Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the historic and elegant, Old Mill Toronto, Brûlé Rooms. For the past 75 years, the parishioners of UOC St. Demetrius have endeavoured to meet the spiritual, social and cultural needs, both within our community and in outreach to the greater surrounding community. We are now faced with the need to replace or upgrade much of our physical structure. As well, a number of our programmes, successful in the past, need to be brought forward into the 21st century. Phase One of our project has a budget of $300,000; we have currently raised $183,000. We look forward, with your help, to attaining our goal so we may continue our important work here, at St. Demetrius. Tickets for our SnowDrop Gala are $175.00 per person, which includes parking, coat check, dinner with wine, dancing, exciting entertainment and much more. Tickets for the dance only portion of this event are available for $65.00. Partial tax receipts will be provided. The following Table sponsorships are available:

За останні 75 років парафіяни УПЦ святого Димитрія намагалися задовольнити духовні, соціальні та культурні потреби у нашій громаді, а також у ширшій навколишній спільноті. The Entertainers:

Zirka - Once you’ve heard the music, and felt the energy, you’ll have experienced a Zirka zabava. Lively Ukrainian polkas and waltzes mixed in with some classic and some new pop tunes and it’s a party like no other. Zirka is six musicians who love to play their instruments and sing, and do it for the right reason: to entertain, to create a party atmosphere, and to have fun.
Ron Demeda, a virtuoso musician on the bandura and tsymbaly, demonstrates the versatility of the bandura through a range of musical genres including traditional Ukrainian, classical, as well as contemporary music. Ron has performed at numerous concerts in the Toronto area over the years, as well as in performances in Ottawa, New York, Vegreville Alberta, and at the Chervona Ruta festival in Ukraine. Ron also performed at Toronto’s International Caravan Festival’s Odessa, Kiev, and Kolomaya pavilions, at St. Demetrius's own Springfest! festival, and as a regular at the Ukrainian Caravan Restaurant in Toronto. Ron has been Director of the St. Demetrius Bandura School and Ensemble for the last 30 years, instructing and inspiring new generations of students to learn and play Ukraine's national instrument, the bandura.
Photo Booth:
Visit Michael Kalimin at the Photo Booth! Michael Kalimin (AKA Bongo Mike) first realized he had a natural interest in photography while using a basic digital camera on canoe trips in Algonquin Park. In 2007 he bought his first DSLR camera as he was teaching English in South Korea. His travel experiences in Korea and around Asia inspired him to develop his own unique photography style. Upon returning back home to Canada, Bongo Mike decided to open up a photography business called "Bongopix." Bongopix initially started by specializing in photobooth, family, promotional, lifestyle, and event photos. By 2013 Bongopix had expanded to a workload of 30 weddings per year. In 2015 Bongo Mike and his wife, Andrea, founded "Camp Bongopix" - a retro cabin resort right on the border of Algonquin Park. Camp Bongopix carries on the Bongopix philosophy of "marching to the beat of your own drum." Not only is Camp Bongopix located in a photographer's paradise, but the couple hosts guests from around the world in an atmosphere that promotes an unplugged, upbeat, outdoor, and FUN lifestyle! Camp Bongopix is growing at a rapid pace and Bongo Mike's goal is to develop a new wedding trend: the retro Algonquin Park style of wedding. Bongo Mike and Andrea invite you to "be kind and rewind" with them and visit Camp Bongopix!
